Chapter 10...What to expect when you go to the breast clinic.

Hi guys,
For todays blog its going to be a bit of a story time post so grab a coffee get comfy! Lets just dive straight into the deep end, after Breast Cancer Awareness week rolled around I thought I may as well have a check (Ill link bellow a tutorial of how to examine yourself) my heart sank to the pits of my stomach when I found a lump near the bottom of my breast. I was so worried, in my head I immediately thought CANCER! If you ever find anything, tell someone, I know how worrying it is but you feel so much better. I told my Mum and she rang the Doctors and we got an appointment straight away, I have to say that throughout this process the waiting is the hardest. Waiting, waiting, waiting then finally I was called in. I did have a male doctor but please don't let yourself be put off if the doctor is the opposite sex, I promise you in the moment it wont matter to you, they are there to treat you not judge you.
Firstly we talked about how I found the lump, if I was on birth control (which I was the Evra Patch), if I had any discharge (nope) or discomfort (yes!) Then he asked me if it was okay if he could examine me and if I wanted my Mum with me, I did so we went over to the table and I removed everything from the waist up. At first I sat on the side to check the outside of the breasts and then I led back and he felt around a bit straight away he found the lump. Then we went back and he told me that he thought it could be a cyst. I wasn't very shocked at this as I have had them on my ovaries prior to this. He told me that he was going to refer me to the Breast Clinic. You shouldn't worry if they refer you to the clinic because it is a precaution and they have to do this! I was told that you typically get seen within two weeks, I got an appointment one week later.
Again it was another week of waiting...waiting...waiting then FINALLY! Monday rolled around, we walked into the clinic and it was pink everywhere which made it seem more cheery. When you hand in your letter to the reception desk they give you a questionnaire to fill out to help the doctors get all the information they need, it had questions like; is there any history of breast cancer and if so, who? Have you had any discharge? Have you had any pain? Is this the first visit to the clinic? Are you on birth control? I have to say that everything happens quickly, the nurse then came to collect me, she took me through to check my weight and height, then I changed into a hospital gown but I got to keep on my trousers. I was told that as I'm young, I will only be able to have a ultrasound scan. Then we walked down to the other waiting room, it really does feel like all girls together as your all in the same boat. There was a TV on to stop us from being to bored but as I said it happens quickly, I was ushered into the scanning suite and I led on the bed. All the nurses were so sweet and kind to me and helped to protect my dignity when possible. I had the scan and it was all fine he said that it was just a bit of breast tissue that had raised and that was what I was feeling. After I went and sat back in to the waiting room with the TV. About half an hour passed and I was called to see the surgeon. He reassured me that everything was fine and it may take up to a year for the pain to subside, but that I had to keep an eye out for any future lumps. Then I was free to go!
That is it for my story time! I really wanted to make this blog post because before my appointment I had no clue what to expect and had to dive in head first. I really hope that this helps some people and relieves the anxiety a little bit! Pease let me know down bellow your story or if this did help you, remember to share this post, comment and follow me on Twitter!
Thank you for reading and good luck!

Chapter 7...Graze Box Review!

Hey guys!

I received a Graze box sent to me recently, first I was a bit unsure about it as its all natural and organic and too me that kind of turns me off to a product unless its makeup or body stuff. But the company is all about healthy products that you don't feel too guilty about eating after so I got stuck in!

The Graze Box company makes most of their boxes skinny enough to fit through your letter box so that the boxes can be posted in if you are out! I think this is a great idea because I am out of the house the majority of the time so it is really convenient to know that I don't have to come home and then drive all the way out to the post office to collect it! I got sent a variety box, this contains a variety of their products, the packaging is 100% biodegradable and recyclable which I LOVE!

The first snack that I was sent is called "Rough Blend Peanut Butter With Pretzel Sticks", I personally don't really like peanut butter so my opinion is very one sided, I got my Dad to taste it and he really liked it (he is a big lover of peanut butter.) Overall I think that if you like peanut butter than this is really for you and even if you are unsure I say give it a go and try something new!

Next up was the "Salted Fudge & Peanut Cookie!" I LOVE this, I think this is a great snack for on the go as it has a lot of protein and energy but in the form of something sweet for a pick me up!

With this next product I was very unsure about, it is the "Vietnamese
Pho soup with shiitake mushrooms and spicy toban jhan". This comes in two sections firstly you add the dry things to a cup or bowl and then you all hot water and in with the paste. I really didn't like the way that it looked but I braved a tasting and it was really nice so that just proves that you should give everything a go!

The best for last! "SUPER Carrot Cake!" This is from their high tea range and I love it. You get the actual carrot cake itself and then you get a teabag to have with it! The cake is so moist and the tea is so traditional and just overall I'd get a box filled with this if I could!

That is it for this post guys, I love Graze Box and I would totally recommend this so anyone that is on the go, everything is packaged so you could throw one of the little boxes in your school or work bag and have it for lunch! I hope that you enjoyed this post!

Chapter 5....Dealing with THAT time of the month!

Hiya guys,

Sorry I havent bloged for a while but I am back and determined to post something every week! Now that's out of the way, this week I have decided to discuss the taboo subject of periods!

In my experience, I generally want to snuggle under my duvet with a dominos watching Netflix but, unfortunately this isn't always possible as there are little commitments that we all have; school or work!

But DONT worry there are things that you can do too make THAT time of the month a little bit easier!

The first thing is that you should remember that it is okay to let yourself have that day of feeling sorry for yourself and too just lounge around in your pjames, order food and watch American Horror Story! On the other hand you should also keep in mind that you need to keep active and that exercise will help with the cramping, as well as keeping moving, paracetamol and lots of water will help this.

Whilst we are on the subject of cramping, baths really soothe the pain. I personally favour showers over baths. But when I do have one, I use a lush product my favourite is Twilight! It smells of everything that I love, I like to have baths at night so that it calms me down before its time to go to bed.

Whilst I am in bed I like to use water bottles, I put them in the bed before I go to sleep so it makes the sheets all cosy and warm. During the day I like to use heat patches, I use the ones with ibroprophen so that it sinks in the skin and soothes the pain.

I also love to drink coffee, but caffeine doesn't go well with a lot of pain medicines that I take for the whist I am on my period. So as a substitute I drink hot chocolate or decafe coffee. My one true love is Starbucks so I will always have a cheeky frappe when I am in town.

My skin is a big problem when I am on my period, my skin flares up massively! I generally don't get spots at all but my skin is naturally quite oily around my t zone area. So I use witch-hazel products and also St ives exfoliator.

Over all folks the biggest thing is that, you get to know your body and the way it works! For example I know that I come on late and I am very heavy so I will ALWAYS carry around some tampons JUST IN CASE! Make sure to always have a JUST IN CASE package with you in your bag, with everything that you may need with you, e.g. tampons, pads and whatever else you think you may need.

Thank you for reading this I hope you found it useful, please tweet me any suggestions for future blogs and leave a comment telling me what you thought or any tips and tricks dealing with THAT time of the month!

Love Char xo
